My opinion of chains restaurant fluctuates in really crazy ways. I like some (DQ for their cold treats); others I learned they are sort of a niche (Tim Horton’s); others I don’t mind (Subway); and then they are those which, well, let’s leave it there. The fact some chains spread like crazy should be an indicator of… either how good their food might be or how good is their marketing/PR department. Fresh Slice, I think falls in the later category.
So how I ended up there despite that opinion of this chain? Well, it is said experience is acquired right after you needed it… Anyway, I was hungry and needed something quick so, in a way, I was willing to give them a chance.

A single slice is $1.50 but they have “combos” where you get a drink for an additional nominal fee. In my case, I got 3 slices with pop for $4.99.

One thing I must admit, at least the table outside gives you a good view of Robston Street…

A close-up of the pizza
I think I had a slice of Hawaiian, a slice of pepperoni with olives and a slice with sausage. The fact I can’t say for certain/remember it very well gives you an idea of how excited I was about the pizza. Was it filling? Well, to an extent but that’s about it. My hands were greasy after eating them, not to mention I left a lot of crust (not because I did not want to eat it; rather the crust/edible ratio).
In the end, it makes me wonder. How this chain can expand in such a way, to the point it pops in almost any empty spot in a mall/strip mall? This is one of those cases where I don’t think I really want to know. At least what I now know what I needed to know. I will not be having lunch or snack there anytime soon…
