Wolfgang Puck Express

Wolfgang Puck Express
Several locations worldwide
Pearson International Airport (Location visited)

Here I go again… Last week, I was on a trip (more on that in tomorrow’s post) and, due to the location of the final destination, I had a layover at Pearson International Airport. Unlike a previous time, where I ended up eating on the restaurants past the security gates, this time I chose to eat before, which gave me different set of options. The problem is that hauling a somewhat heavy carry-on (it was a short trip but had to dress accordingly) meant I couldn’t go from one terminal to the other. The first place I noticed? Wolfgang Puck Express…

Fortunately (?), it was after noon, local time so the queue wasn’t long. In the menu, there were pizzas (prepared but not cooked yet), sandwiches and entrees. However, despite a simple menu, the cooks were a bit slow so it took a while for them to prepare the orders of the customers ahead of me. Anyway, here is what I ordered:

A meatloaf sandwich which comes with herbed french fries. If you stop to think for a moment, what is a meatloaf? Technically is ground meat (usually beef) bound together with egg, some form of bread, some other vegetables and spices. So, if you use your imagination, it is not that different from a burger, right? As for this one, it was meh. Not good but, probably due to the size (or the speed at which I was eating), it was quite filling. The fries, on the other side, had no hint of herbs, just your regular McCain-type fries.

Overall, it was a “meh”. I guess at this point I should just give up and have no expectations at airports. Unless, that is, if somebody can prove me wrong and tell me of a good place. Actually, come to think about it, suddenly, Tim Horton’s does not sound bad…

I can’t help but think of an Adam Sandler song “Lunch Lady Land”, where he sings about sloppy joes and meatloaf sandwiches. Thanks for bringing a smile to this guy!
