What another burger shop post back to back? What is going on?! Well, this post I had it pending in a while but, then I was out of town and then things happened, and they got pushed until now that I am cleaning some old post. What can I say! Today’s post is Burgers Etc. which holds the bragging rights to be called the “Best Burger in the Lower Mainland” according to CTV (unfortunately, I couldn’t find the actual poll). Now, does this claim hold water? Is this as good as they say? There is only one way to find out!

I was there on a sunny Sunday for lunch and, yes, that day it was sunny (for a change!). As a result, I also wanted some “different”. How so? To being with, I usual go for soda/pop. However, this time, I went for…

A vanilla milk shake. Usually I go for pop/soda mainly for the fizziness but, as mentioned above, I wanted something different. The milk shake here was quite thick to the point there were still blobs of vanilla ice cream in it. Was it good? Yes. Would I ordered it again? Hell no! It is one of those once in a long while things you have. In my case, this one would be enough for a long, long time…

As for the food, aside from burgers, they also have some sandwiches, including BBQ type sandwiches (pulled pork and beef brisket). But, since I mentioned burger in the very beginning, what are the chances I would end up ordering one of those? Hehehehe. Yes, I ended up ordering a burger and, rather than the usual fries, I went for…

A coleslaw. It had a creamy dressing instead of a vinegar-y type (which I tend to prefer). However, it was good in its own way. It retained some crunchiness of the cabbage and, given the way it was “cut”, it does not appear it was from a bag. I finish this in almost no time. And that leads to the burger…

By now, you know what extra topping I ask… Yes, it had mushroom in it! As for the burger, they mention they cook it medium-well. I would have preferred medium but, I was not in mood of arguing. Anyway, back to the burger, the way it is structured, it feels as if they did not “press” the burger. Instead, it was layered in such a way that the overall burger looks quite “high” (height-wise). And into what does that translate? Into a really difficult to eat burger. No, really, I had to press it down and, even then, it started to slide a little bit to the side. As for taste, It was juicy to the point I made a small mess eating it. And, as usual, the mushroom helped.

Overall, while it was a good burger, a lot better than some of the other burger shops I have been (based on my other posts), I won’t call it *the best*. Sure, I would suggest others to visit it, just that there are other better ones. But, as usual, we can agree to disagree! ^_^

I love thick milkshakes. I try and convince myself I’m working it off by using all the strength I have to suck it up the straw :)

That burger looks very good. Juicy patty with fresh vegetables on a toasted bun. I think you provided a solid option for the locals. Nice work!

Yup, it was a decent burger. In full agreement that it is not the best burger. I didn’t get to try the coleslaw, but it did look good. I guess it’s as good as it looks then?

Raidar, re: straw, that’s cheating! Options are there, it is a matter of look for them.

Sherman, although I admit is an odd option, in the end, it was good.

Pearl, in Vancouver? Right now, in my totem pole, that would be Burger Heaven. On the topic of Burger Heaven, check this “news“, hehehehehe.
