No, I have not ran out of restaurants to write about! Instead, due to timing, I thought it would be a good idea to post it now, considering the expansion to Vancouver Convention Centre (referred to as VCC from here on), held its open house last weekend. Also, considering that I usually do not post on Saturdays, hehehehe…

The new convention centre is location next to the current one, i.e., in Canada Place. From Google Maps:
There has been a lot of detabe about this expansion, the main one is related to cost overruns. I will rather not delve into this issue but, instead, just focus on what it is there…

As mentioned, it is next to the current convention centre.

Look at the lobby. In the background, Canada Place.

Another look of the lobby.

To the right, the sails of Canada Place.

One “unique” feature is the walls: If memory serves me right, these are from trees salvaged after they were devastated by the pine beetle.

To the left, Stanley Park; in the background, some of the local mountains.

An unique feature is the roof. It is called a “living roof”, where, rather than just concrete, it has a “garden” with native plants.

Another look from the third floor. Again, to the right, Stanley Park.

One of the main exhibition halls. Yes, it is BIG!

External view to the Stanley Park seawall.

I hope you enjoyed it! And, yes, I will be back to food blogging tomorrow, hehehehe.

Hey! I was there too, snapping some of the same pictures! Damn… yours look better though. LOL…
How much did this cost us? Was it over 1B? hehehe
oh wow! the centre looks so good!
Sherman, well, I have been using my dSLR for a bit longer than you, have an assortment of lenses (not sure about you) and, most importantly, I cheated! (Check my equipment link, under post-processing).
Jessica, actually, just under nine hundred million (CDN $900,000,000).
Good pictures.
