After tasting those wings from Phnom Penh, I wanted to have a similar experience and wondered: Is there any other restaurant that is Phnom Penh’s competition when it comes to wings? That brought me memories of a small stand in Aberdeen Centre in Richmond (and thanks to our friends from Eat, Snap, Repeat). Would it be a match? Whose chicken wings will reign supreme???
(And, no, despite their odd name, they don’t serve dessert!)

In the food court where Wo Fung Dessert is located, the competition is really stiff. With a high turn around and relatively cheap food, it is literally survival of the fittest. When I was working in Richmond, there has been several times I was there for lunch, though, I would have gone there a couple more times if it wasn’t because of that badly designed parkade… But I am digressing here. As for the food, an example of what you can get there include Hainanese Chicken, macha ice cream, Korean (all guest blogged) and BBQ duck on rice, like this!

But this visit is not about all the other stands but, again, Wo Fung Dessert and its chicken wings. And here they are!

To start with, sure, they are not as “pretty” looking as the ones from Phnom Penh but, hey, some really tasty food does not necessarily look good! And, as for the taste… It was greasy, it was ginger-y, it was crispy. In other words, they were good! But.. they were not as good as the ones from Phnom Penh. OK, OK, these were good on their own right just that those others are a lot better. Now, compared to wings you can get almost anywhere else, these would be killer. Woud I come back? Sure, if I am in the area and want wings!
And, to finish this post, one of the “features” of the centre is the fountain, which provide some entertainment. Here are some of the pictures of the light show:

LOL i was a little surprised when i read “wo fung dessert” and saw CHICKEN. i was like “whaa?!” haha thanks for sharing, though!
I totally agree with you, the ones at Phnom Penh and here cannot be compared. They are both good but in different ways.
It’s funny how they are both chicken wings, but so different at the same time.
I would recommend trying the Hainanese Chicken, as it is a new one. Their original location is on Broadway, and they were always packed at lunch. Their chicken is also de-boned.
Jenny, welcome and thanks for your comments! Will give that chicken a try. But… Wait for tomorrow’s post first! ^_^;;;
I’ve not been here only a few days and there have been so many posts, how do you do it??? Keep it up though!
Monchichi, one post at a time? XD
