I like Babylon cafe at robson and granville for their chicken shawarma wrap, all their other locations are just....ok....as for vietnamese, since i drive to work (i have parking at $105/month, relatively cheap) I have the option to drive down to tinseltown for vietnamese on the cheap and fast. i did try to go to Red Chicken Korean last week, i was seated and ordered within 3 minutes of entering, but waited for about 45 minutes with nothing.....noticed the bell button, pressed it, let the manager know that i'm leaving as i only have a 1 hour lunch break.

Koji, that's why I am here: to take the bullets! However, as for One Saigon, I still think their banh mi are decent enough, specially for Downtown standards. As for donair/shawarma, I end up in a place that changed my perspective of this middle east dish. That place is... Errrr... Wait until Wednesday post? XD

Sherman, I have already resigned myself to the fact that, if I go out for lunch in Downtown, unless I go for something really cheap, almost any lunch would be almost $10. This is no Richmond/Surrey/Langley...

It's so hard to find good cheap Vietnamese food in downtown. I suspect it's the high rent and operating costs. It's good that you experienced good Banh Mi. One of my favourite things to eat!

i had this last week to satisfy a craving for vietnamese food as this is close to my work.....it didnt' satisfy me at all. like you, the vermicelli was bland, they need to pre cook a lot sooner so it isn't as wet that any of the sauce just doesnt' soak up into the noodles. also, $5 for 4 little spring rolls is a bit steep. overall, this place just isn't bad, but it really isn't good either.

i've been hitting a few of the same places as you lately, i hit up donair spot on robson within a day or two before you, it's a bit overpriced, i prefer their south granville location, the beef and lamb at the robson location doesn't have that bbq taste, it taste like it's been cut before it really 'cooks' then it gets sogged with water or something.
