For today’s post… Actually, there is no post… Hey, there is a reason why I am calling it Epic Fail! Originally, I was planning to the local Taiwanfest, in a similar way I have been going to other summer festivals in the last couple of months. However, that was until I noticed that admission fee is $12! Now, to those who haven’t been in Vancouver, the area where it takes place is the Plaza of Nations, where previously Taste of the City also took place. Normally that is not a problem; except that I have a good idea of how big the plaza is which translates into not that much space for the stage and food vendors. And, no, I don’t consider myself cheap – after all there was an admission fee for EAT! Vancouver and The Fair at the PNE. But, the “killer” to all this was the weather: it was dark cloudy (meaning chances of rain was quite high) and, despite the Plaza of Nations has a roof, I won’t have enjoyed it. Regardless, I apologize for this and hope to see you back on Tuesday!
Epic Fail…

No need to apologize Kim! No point in reporting on something if you aren’t going to enjoy it.
If only I had your #, I could have given you my tickets.
I went yesterday but was uh…a little…preoccupied with company so I didn’t take as many pictures as I would have.
Yah, I’m with raidar. It’s your blog… Also, after Eat Vancouver!, I’m not sure if paying admission to a food festival is really necessary. I’ve been to other free events and it’s about the same.
Oh yea, just in case you didn’t know, if you go opening day of Taiwan Festival, it’s free admission in the FIRST hour.
It’s been like this for years, it’s not widely known but apparently my mom said it was published in the chinese newspaper though.
This means that on Saturday, you could have walked in for free from 11am-12pm.
Good to know for next year?
I went a few years back and was very disappointed. Especially after paying for $15 parking, $10 x 2 and to find out that the food stalls were limited and really nothing there to see. Luckily they had the lantern show but still it wasn’t worth it. I called my friend to let her know it’s not worth going but she was already inside when I called.
