Mijune, no need to apologize. As for chicken vs. pork based broth, it is a matter of taste. That might have automatically deducted some "points"... If I go back, I am not sure if I would go back for donburi. I might want to first try out their pork based broth before jumping into other dishes. Finally, let's wait for Santouka to open...

Sorry you didn't like it Kim. I guess everyone has a palette of their own. I will say that the quality of it has gone down since I first tired it, but I'm still in no means disappointed by G-Men or think it's inedible etc. All the times I've had it the broth has been a pork based broth...so I'm not sure what's going on there...too bad you had chicken.

Sherman - It's the best ramen you're going to find in Richmond. SLIM pickings!

Oh and Kim you should try that donburi I have on my recommendations...that was good...they have good donburi and a nice seaweed sauce....I doubt you'll come back though.

Also Kintaro is more Japanese and much richer in terms of everything. It is good, but so heavy I need a nap afterward. I like the noodles there.

Holly, actually, there is still the "in-between" Menya in Broadway near Cambie. Not the same calibre but an option nevertheless. Sorry, no desserts for me. For that, I will leave it to those who have sweet tooth. Anita? Mijune? :)

Sherman, I think of a couple of reasons, including the fact it is ramen and there aren't that many similar options in Richmond - though, of course, it begs the question, does it HAVE to be ramen? Can't it be pho or wonton or other similar type soup? :???: But, based on my experience and what Holly mentioned, it seems it might be safer for you to go for dinner instead.

Interesting Kim. I've heard good and bad about this place. Still wonder why people line up? Yah, for some reason, I keep comparing to Kintaro as well. You know I'll try this, but maybe later, it's in Richmond.

I was surprised too when I visited a few days ago and they no longer offer their tonkatsu broth during lunch hours. I was in the mood for ramen and since I was working in Richmond, this was the closest location vs. Motomachi and Kintaro in Vancouver.

I liked the fact that the chicken soup was lighter and non-oily. Also, their dessert of the day was delicious. It was green tea ice cream on top of corn flakes with some red beans and mochi. The mochi was home made with tofu so the it was lighter and chewier than usual.

Next time, I want to go back for their creme brulee which was sold out.
