Eudora, not sure if the two are related… I don’t mind the shiso leaf; however, in this case, it was overpowering. Had it had been more subtle, I might have liked it more.

Have always wanted to visit Ebisu (Kamei Royale)! There is one Ebisu in Richmond too, but aren’t they belong to different groups/chains? Because their menus look different.

You don’t like shiso leaf? Maybe give the Saba Shima Sushi at Guu Garden a try next time. There is just a hint of shiso leaf which won’t be too empowering. And it goes very well with the seared saba and flavored rice too!

Lena, there wasn’t any mention of a coupon, but one thing I didn’t mention was the fact the “combo” should have come with a dessert – which never came. :-/

LR, there is still Kamei Royal in Burrard and Alberni. Not sure sure if Fish On Rice is related, though.

Trisha, thanks for coming! Yes, the tofu was only on the bottom pieces; less broth would have worked better for us, I guess. As for the roll, I guess I should have really taken a picture of the menu, rather than expecting it to be on-line! ^_^;;;

that was great! (i think i just identified myself… ) i agree with you on all points… one of the problems i have with agedashi tofu is the sogginess that occurs on the bottom pieces. it was fun to watch the toro being seared but it was indeed a bit of a miss. looking forward to another eating adventure soon.

oh, and i think the roll was the salmon blossom… ?

So is the entire Kamei chain gone, or simply rebranded as Ebisu ? Is Fish On Rice on Kingsway (Bby) related to Ebisu ?

I came here with a friend with a coupon in hand for free dessert if you spend $30… not something I’d like to do again with only 2 girls. The food is decent though!
