Originally, I had scheduled a rant about my perspective of the state of Vancouver food blogs, specially due to some things that have happened lately. However, the content itself was proving a bit too… Incensive and provoking (confirmed by some people whom I have sent a draft version). As a result, I have put that post on hold until further consideration. However, I do have an announcement…
(Update (20110314): This post has been made “sticky”. For the most recent post, please, scroll down or click on next post at the very bottom left of the page).
Due to personal reasons, I will be “closing shop” in the next coming weeks. Once I have flushed my remaining pending posts, including a personal apology to a very dear friend, I will stop blogging. Whether this is permanent or not, I haven’t decided but, as of now, it is leaning towards the former. If I were to start blogging again, chances are it will not be food related. But, who knows, I might do some guest blogging! I am sure some will be curious as to why; alas, sorry, at this point, I would rather not disclose my reasons. What I will say is that it was fun while it lasted and thankful for what I have accomplished at a personal level. So, enjoy those remaining posts!

I’m sorry to hear this news – I’ve really enjoyed your reviews over the years, and you are definitely one of the more thoughtful food bloggers in the area!
Good luck on your new adventures, and I hope you’ll return to blogging in one form or another.
NoooOOoooOoo! So sad to see you go
Really valued your opinions, I do hope it’s not permanent.
It’s been a good ride Kim. I rely on these food blogs as I value honesty, however, I noticed some foodies have “sold out.” Once a person takes a freebie or puts oneself as the main focus instead of the food, then his/her opinion becomes subjective. It is b/c of that, I have stopped reading several food blogs long ago. Btw, rankings mean very little. Stay the course and I’m glad you were real.
Kim, I’ve read this blog for over a year now and love it. You’ll be missed. Thanks for all you’ve done!
Oh Wow, I will certainly miss your post, since I always loved your pictures. Thanks for all the informative post and impartial reviews. If you do start another blog, do let me know
Due to the cryptic nature of your post, curiosity has gotten the better of me. Some comments have targeted “sell-outs”, as if that was part of your deciding to quit food-blogging. Your silence on this thread piques my curiosity even further. I’m pretty good at reading between the lines but titling the post “State of Vancouver Food Blogs” and then leaving us hanging is rather odd. Without stating what the state is, leaves only speculation and rumor (and a batch of glad tidings).
Committing blogicide while at the top of one’s game is difficult to grasp. You have a very large following that have great respect for you and your opinions. You have never once, as far as I can tell, held back on any of your thoughts. Why start now?
I will miss your shaking fist…… I’m sorry you feel you have to end your blog…… I hope to see your wonderful photos and opinions on a future blog.
KIM! Why’d this happen while I was away?!
And why was I left out of the infamous email mailing list??
Hope everything is ok – the Vancouver blogoverse is losing a huge contributor if you keep true to your word.
Hi Kim,
I will miss your blog! I just started blogging myself but I have been reading yours for years! I truly hope that I didn’t contribute too much to the “State of Vancouver Food Blogs” and I am interested to read the draft post if you don’t mind sending it to me.
not to drum up more drama, but i am actually quite curious about the draft post too, kim. can you please email it to me?
It’s too bad you’re closing up shop. What was your rant about the state of Vancouver food bloggers?
You definitely were the most critical blog out there, but if you’re bowing out because you don’t like the current state of food blogs, well that’s your problem not theirs.
Thanks for your perspectives, insights and general contributions to the local foodies-sphere. I will especially miss your out-of-town reviews.
All the best, Kim. Hope to see you on other blogs.
