I think I am starting a tradition here, hehehehe. Similar to last year (here and here), I went to Van Dusen Botanical Garden again this year for the Festival of Lights. Below is my photo essay. And, of course, Merry Christmas to everybody!

As you should have noticed on last week’s posts, I was in New Jersey. How long? How about two weeks! So, during the weekend, I decided to, once again, make the best out of my trip: In this case, go to New York city, the Big Apple! Here is a photo essay of places I went. Please, sit down and enjoy the ride!

Following my visit to Van Dusen Botanical Garden (click here to check that post – will open in a new window), on the following weekend, I chose to go to another local park/garden. In this case, Queen Elizabeth Park. I must mention it was raining on the prior days and started to rain again an hour or so after I left the park so I was really fortunate I took advantage of that small window of opportunity. So, without further ado, enjoy this photo essay!

Vancouver’s Bakers Market
118 – 408 East Kent Avenue South
Vancouver, BC
Saturday only event – check website for hours/days
Note: Today, I have a two-post “special”. The second post – Uprising Bread Bakery, can be found here.
Although Vancouver is nowhere near the largest cities in the world, at least we have lots of eateries and food related events. Where to go? What to eat? While I am sure a lot of us food bloggers have filled that niche to a certain extent, there is still the question: where do *we* look for events/places to eat? We look at each other, of course! Fellow blogger Mijune of Follow Me Foodie wrote about a bakers market not long ago and, while I have overgrown that mad desire for sweets and not fond in any way of cupcakes, I thought “hey, why not!”. So, ready with some insulin along, I went to the local Vancouver’s Bakers Market.

Note: Today, I have two post! This is the second one of two – the “other” one is called “Cooking Shows“.
In the last couple of days, the weather has gone sideways. Weather almost hit 0C/32F for a couple of days and we are not even winter yet! Likewise, it has been raining in the last couple of days! Now, rain as in actual rain, not that drizzle that seems to last forever. Anyway, in a small gap between those two wacky instances of Vancouver’s weather, I went to my favourite garden: Van Dusen Botanical Garden, which I have blogged previously – 2008 Festival of Lights, 2008 Festival of Lights Dancing Lights and pictures in spring. (On that note, I also visited Queen Elizabeth Park, my other favourite garden/park. Pictures coming next week!). So, enjoy this photo essay!

Greater Vancouver Food Bank Society
by KimHo on November 6, 2009 under: British Columbia,Comments,Events
When I started to focus a bit more into food blogging, I chose this domain name because that is what I usually do in a restaurant – the rest, service, ambiance, et al, plays second fiddle to the food. However, after I started blogging, I realized that it might be a bit insensitive – those who are in need of assistance from organizations like the Greater Vancouver Food Bank Society (from here on, referred to as Food Bank). Since this is a one year anniversary for me, I thought to visit them to learn more about them and what they do in our community.
