Pajo’s Fish & Chips
Four locations in Metro Vancouver

Richmond, BC

Timothy’s Frozen Yogurt

Richmond, BC

On the BC Day long weekend, I decided to drive around to places I don’t usually have the opportunity to go (lots of reasons) or choose not to go (too far of a drive/crazy traffic). One of those places is Steveston Village, known for its seafood restaurant. Being mostly a fishery area, you would expect most, if not all the restaurants be selling seafood, right? Actually it is, except for a pizza shop here and an Indian restaurant there. With such stiff competition, you can only survive by providing or doing something “better” (or at least different) from the competition. To me, at first sight, the notable difference from Pajo’s is its location. But, would the fish and chips be better than the rest?

El Inka Deli

During the food bloggers dinner we had last month in Alvin Garden, the topic of other regional cuisines was brought up by Sherman (this was regarding a comment where it “accused” Sherman of visiting way to many Chinese restaurants). At the end of that conversation, Sherman said he should try Latin American and asked me to bring him along next time I went to one such restaurant. Now, rather than going to a place I haven’t been previously, I chose one I have blogged before: El Inka Deli (previous post here). And, tagging along, we had TS of [eatingclub]Vancouver. Would I live to expectations? Pressure is on!

Coast
1054 Alberni Street
Vancouver, BC

There are some restaurants that, well, are a pain to go by yourself. So, when a colleague who was leaving for lunch asked if I wanted to join him in Coast, I was confused. Wasn’t Coast in Yaletown? Well, it seems it “moved” to its current location in Alberni Street, near Burrard Street, across from Italian Kitchen. Still at walking distance and without meetings later that afternoon, I jumped to the opportunity.

Yesterday it was another hot summer weekend but, along with it, another summer festival! In this case, after a short hop via the Seabus to Lonsdale Quay then a short walk to Waterfront Park, the Caribbean Days Festival! (Courtesy of Trinidad and Tobago Cultural Society). So, without further ado.

I guess I am starting to make this into a trend, hehehehe. As part of the on-going summer (food-related) events in Vancouver, yesterday, I went to the Pacific National Exhibition for an event called CityTv’s Taste of the City. And what is this event? Organized by CityTV, one of the local television system, it is all about food, as the name suggests. In this case, over 20 restaurants would showcase some of their dishes and the samples would cost between $1 to $4.

The Sea House Fish and Chips
#7 3003 Kingsway
Vancouver, BC

OK, shame on me on this one. I usually schedule my posts to be up before 10:30 a.m.; however, because of an unofficial “fish and chips week” posts (check here and here), I ended up shuffling this post to be earlier. But, I just noticed it was not schedule correctly. Ouch… -_-; Anyway, to today’s post…
On my post on Canada Day, I mentioned I had fish and chips at Granville Island. However, the fish was disappointing (and that would be an understatement). So, on the days following, I was in the search of something more satisfying. Truth is, most of the better known fish and chips shops happen to be near Granville Island/False Creek, Steveston and, out of all places, White Rock. Not wanting to drive to any of these, I settled for one that I noticed while driving on my way to an errand: The Sea House Fish and Chips. After all, when you have something resembling the Union Jack as a logo, I would assume you mean (fish and chips) business, right?

As mentioned in yesterday’s post, it was Canada Day. And, as expected, there were events related to this celebration across Metro Vancouver. In my case, I went to the “main” celebration location: Canada Place.
