This was supposed to be two short post but I thought, rather than two short posts, how about having a longer one, specially considering these two places shared some things in common? Namely, me needing a meal; however, I wasn’t THAT hungry? OK, that might be an overstatement… Basically, I had a somewhat heavy meal earlier that day and needed a snack/light meal. And based on posts from other fellow bloggers, I thought I should drop by Huaxi Noodle (in Crystal Mall’s food court) and Chong Lee Market…

There has been times where I visit a restaurant, take good pictures, eat the food yet I am not certain if I should blog about it. It is not that they are good or bad; rather it is because there is something. That is what happened to me when I visited Bo Laksa King a couple of months ago: I chose not to put that post live (key details were written already). Heck, I even showed Mijune (her post on Bo Laksa King here) about this place for her thoughts, since it was a part of town I knew it was unlikely she will be visiting on her own. But, in the end, I thought, why not… So, finally, my post about this hole-in-the-wall.

After yet another errand in South Burnaby, I was looking for places to eat late night. While driving through Kingsway, I was looking for alternatives to Green Bamboo so I was hoping for Vietnamese. I was aware of two of them (Pho Hoa and Pho Hong), they were still several clicks away. But then I spotted Pho Saigon. I have passed by a lot of times and, for some reason, it looks more like a run down house but, with cars parked outside and people inside, I guess it is still a restaurant…

In the last couple of weeks, I think we have had a good share of blog posts of Thai restaurants. I am not talking about myself, I only visited Tangthai with Victoria (and was also visited by other food bloggers) but Victoria also visited Maenam. And prior to that, shokutsu of Foodosophy, visited Lhy Thai. So, in its own funny way, I chose to semi-continue that trend by visiting that same restaurant, Lhy Thai.

Once again, I was in South Burnaby running some errands and due to other circumstances, it ended up a bit later than expected. Thanks to post from Jenny (of My Secret Eden), Kevin (of 604 Foodtography) and Sherman (of Sherman’s Food Adventures), once again, I decided to tackle Chinese/Taiwanese-type late night eats and that place ended up being Pearl House Restaurant.

Earlier this year, in summer, when I went to No 1 Beef Noodle House, I noticed they had a sign they were opening a new location near King Edwards. Months have passed and after my visit to Queen Elizabeth Park, I was hungry and needed some food. Well, since it is not that far, I might as well go there!

Let me put this one out right away: the fact that my last post prior to my trip to Florida happens to be Vietnamese and the first post afterwards is also Vietnamese, not to mention they are located a block or so away from each other is pure coincidence. I just happened to be in the same area for the same reason and, rather than go to the same place again, I though “hey, let’s go somewhere else!”. So, there you go, that’s why I ended up in Le Petit Saigon.
